On June 9, 2016, the Information Security Office launched a public service announcement recommending that individuals set password recovery options for their NetID accounts.
Password recovery options help in a number of ways to protect the identities of UConn community members. First and foremost, they enable individuals to easily reset a forgotten password at netid.uconn.edu by confirming a one-time code sent via text message/email or by correctly answering secret questions. In addition, password recovery options permit Help Center staff to alert individuals when their account has been locked due to suspicious activity. Individuals’ personal information collected for password recovery options is kept safe and confidential, and it is not used for any other purposes.
As a reminder to all: the University of Connecticut will never ask you to reveal or confirm any personal or account information such as your account number, PIN, password, or username via email.
