5-12-17 Global Ransomware Attack

Two global ransomware attacks called “WannaCry” and its variant “WanaCrypt0r” are being reported, and attacks have occurred in the United States and internationally. The ransomware exploits the Microsoft Vulnerability MS17-10: Security Update for Microsoft Windows SMB Server.

Ransomware is a type of malware that encrypts the files on your computer and holds the information hostage in an attempt to extort payment for its release.    We recommend that you run Windows updates on all Windows computers to ensure your computer is patched.  Contact your local IT staff or the Help Center for questions or assistance.
